Who get the best seat?
Our Granddaughter Kaia asked to go see 'Bapa's' boat on Sunday after shopping at Costco. Hugo jumped in the truck first and right into his 'normal' place - the front seat - but Kaia's car seat was strapped in it. It didn't bother him in the least and I think he actually enjoyed sitting there as he could see out the window.
I couldn't NOT take a picture. Kaia had to sit on the centre consol and I had my usual seat - in the back, of course...

... where are you going on your summer vacation? Whistler is a fabulous place to visit - any season - whether you are a skier, hiker, biker, swimmer or shopper!
HotelReservations.com makes your planning easy no matter where in the world you wish to travel. Just choose your 'flag' and language to begin - that will give you prices in the monetary denomination of your country.
You may search for hotels, motels, resorts, vacation rentals, 5 star hotels, even Cheap Hotels in any city. It's very easy and fast and there are tons of choices. The nightly rates were very competitive when I did a search on Las Vegas hotels.
There are huge discounts on world wide destinations. I chose to look for Vacation Rentals on the island of Maui in Hawaii and found this great deal in Kihei
right across the street from the KALEPOLEPO BEACH.
A one bedroom condo was available for the week and was around $1200.00 Canadian. Sounds good to me!
The site offers credit card safety tips (you know you should take every card out of your wallet, place them on a scanner bed or photocopier and make a new copy every year - RIGHT?). There is 24 hour customer care and a FAQ page with answers to questions I never even thought to ask. What if I find a lower price after booking?
HotelReservations.com guarantees their prices are the lowest internet prices available. Are you interested in cruises, complete holiday packages or just want to research a destination? This is such a great place to start your search.
Hugo says he thinks you will find the perfect summer vacation - perhaps at Whistler in Beautiful British Columbia!

No, it's not broken...
That's really how hot it was in Florida when Hugo holidayed there! This thermometer is on the command bridge of the boat where Hugo loved to sunbathe but his little face was sunburned in no time. He soon figured out the rental car was a great place to sit - as long as the air conditioning was turned on!

Hugo, our Boating Buddy
Hugo loves going to Nico Wynd Marina with us each day while we are working on the boat, preparing for our summer cruising.
He's not big enough to jump aboard the swimgrid from the dock and he's afraid as he fell in the water last week. His little feet just couldn't get any traction on the fibreglass when he got too near the edge and in he went. Grandma was there to rescue him though!
I just happened to find a lifejacket stowed away in the corner of a storage area - and it's just Hugo's size! We all feel more secure knowing he's safe.

Hugo says...
... motivation is sometimes difficult to find!
These two lines say it all:
The REASON most people do NOT achieve their goals is because they cannot persist their motivation. Their mind shifts focus, and they forget what they originally wanted to achieve.
Isn't that the truth? Do you want to focus on something important in your life to make a change? Perhaps you need motivation software to get you on your way. This motivational software tool is free. Yes, really it is FREE.
Self-development is a life-long learning curve. I like the idea of a Motivator which will really help me - not just temporarily, but to make positive changes for life. It's difficult for me to change my habits but with motivation (free motivation) I will be able to make a start.
Please visit Motivator for an exciting, revolutionary idea which was never supposed to be released to the public - but now it's available to you and me to download. The site itself is exciting to read and will get you pumped enough to keep on reading - it explains the absolutely simple concept in a way which will make you question why you never figured it out!
Hugo says it just might motivate you to make the changes you feel necessary to live the happy, healthy, wealthy, exciting, positive life for which you've been yearning.

Manatees - we DID watch them for hours!
I promise - this is the last Manatee video - but you can't be tired of seeing them can you? I'm ready to go back to Florida to video more of them as they are so fascinating!
These manatees had BIG barnacles on their backs. I always thought Manatees lived in fresh water - but these must spend a lot of time in the ocean to grow barnacles!

Many, many Manatees
I sure hope you aren't bored with watching Manatee videos yet, because I have another for you!
These docile creatures were such a pleasure to see swimming around the boats and the docks in Florida. Crystal took this great shot of a 'Manatee Caution' sign.
You can tell from the attractiveness of the sign, the Floridians appreciate and value their Manatees.

Help me Grandma, I'm Drowning
Hugo and his Mom and Dad met us at the Nico Wynd Marina last night as we brought the new Jervis Mist in to dock.
Hugo was awfully excited to see us as we'd been away for 5 days - and of course we were excited to see him too. He was such a good boy, waiting on the dock until we tied up the boat, his little tail wagging in joy and his eyes dancing.
He greeted us with big sloppy kisses once we lifted him aboard and sniffed out the entire boat before running back to me on the swim grid. I reached down to pet him and slow him down a little but his little feet slid on the fibreglass, he lost his balance and went right into the water.
I was on my knees instantly, watching as his little body completely disappeared underwater. In a second I could see his wide-open bug eyes searching for me, his little legs doggy paddling furiously to get his head above water and I reached out, grasped his harness and lifted him back aboard. It might have been a 10 second adventure all told, but the important thing was - Grandma rescued poor little Hugo.
Awww... he loves me again! So much that he slept cuddled up to my back last night - stinky river water and all.

Dog Property Laws
If I like it, it's MINE.
If it's in my mouth, it's MINE.
If I can take it from you, it's MINE.
If I had it a while ago, it's MINE.
If it's mine, it must NEVER appear to be yours in ANY way.
If I'm chewing something up, ALL the pieces are MINE.
If it looks like mine, it's MINE.
If you are playing with something & put it down, it automatically becomes MINE.
If it's broken it's yours.

Mmmmmmmmore Manatees
Hugo, his Mommy and his Grandma just could not get enough of watching the Mama and baby Manatee. They were sweet and so interactive, demanding our attention and trying to get us to spray water to them, even going so far as to put a flipper up to pull at the water hose.
They might not look like very intelligent animals, but they sure know what they want and had us wrapped around their little flippers! A fellow boater said they love to have their backs scrubbed with a deck brush! Watch as Mama Manatee rolls over to have her belly scratched... awwww... that's so cute!
Hugo says, "Are you tired of seeing manatees?" He and Grandma aren't so there are a few more videos to come!

Mama Mia those are Manatees!
Hugo was fascinated by the Manatees at Titusville Municipal Marina in Florida!
Watch how the mama manatee rolls over on her back - just like a little dogie who wants his belly rubbed. The baby stayed nearby at all times.
We could have watched them for hours!

Hugo says... some people are just plain cruel...
Hugo says, "Poor AK"! Did you read the article about AK, the German Shepherd-Rottweiler puppy who was taken into custody by the SPCA? If you are squeamish don't read any further.
AK, the 6 month old pup had his ears cut off, in a terrible act of cruelty, possibly to make him look more menacing. He was noticed on a balcony, crying and pawing at his ears.
This link will take you to the whole sad story.

Where'd the Cute Poopy Dog Go?
In just a few days Hugo will be 7 months old. He's not a little teddy bear
poopy dog any more. He's a teenager!
And... acting like a teenager...
He's chewing everything in sight, dragging the laundry out of the basket, will not listen to my commands and is a begging little b****r. But, worst of all, he doesn't want to sit on my lap and doesn't want to nap with me anymore.
Poor me, it's hard to let go and see them grow up isn't it? I thought we were best friends for life and here he is shunning me. His Mommy says I don't 'play' with him enough. I also don't give him table scraps so he has no use for me.
Grandpa is his favourite. Hugo naps on his lap, follows him everywhere and of course is rewarded with the odd scrap from Grandpa's lunch. Bad Grandpa... but I'm seriously thinking of bribing Hugo too because I'm so jealous!
I guess he will love me again when he gets over this teenage rebellious stage!

Hugo the sun worshipper!
Hugo is home with Grandpa and I all day as his Mommy is working. He's been for a number of short walks with Grandpa already this morning and for a truck ride.
His absolute favourite pastime is to sit or lie in the sun. He's a little sunbathing, sun worshipping, sun loving poopy dog.
We're going to miss him and his little visits when we are at Egmont for the summer? I guess dogs can go to 'summer camp' though with their Grandma and Grandpa - right???

The scoop on the poop!
Are you trying to train your poopy dog to be house friendly?
Hugo says here's the scoop on the poop!
We all want the poopy dog to poop outside, not in the sleeping crate. Now why would he think it's okay to do the Number 2 where he sleeps?
There are many reasons unfortunately and you need to learn doggerell to figure it out.
Dogs need to feel secure. Perhaps his crate is too big - it needs to be just big enough that your dog can stretch out to sleep comfortably.
If he does his number 2 in the crate and there is still plenty of room for him to move to the other side, he will feel all is well. This is not good - you do not want him to be able to get away from it. He will certainly think 'doggerell think' twice about making a mess if he has to lie in it.
Dogs are very smart - it's not part of their nature to poop in their beds.
Work smart, not hard, to train your poopy dog. He will learn quickly if you have the correct tools. Research, research, research...

Hugo Says... Come Aboard The Canuck's Love Train
Kai from The Buzz Queen has started a linky 'love train' to unite the Canuck Blogosphere!
Please hop on board and spread the love!
Here are the rules:
1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn't a suggestion; you need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY (link to their URL) and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place all of them in the "Originals" list. Add at least 1 new blog that you know is Canadian to the list in the "MY ADDS" section (add no more than 5!). Let the people you've added know so that they can keep the list going.
If you'd rather not take part, please let me (or whoever added you) know.
The Originals:
The Buzz Queen
Beautiful British Columbia
Hugo Says
It's all about me!
Tricia's Musings
Crunchy Carpets
MY ADDS:
One Old Green Bus
Can't you just feel the Canadian love?? We should all put on our toques, watch hockey and drink beer! (whilst we sit in our igloos and eat moose meat!) HA!
ALL ABOARD!
